We got there early because Mickaela had an interview at the Job Centre so that she could get her National Insurance number. We strolled around the campus gardens and took the opportunity of a beautiful, bright day to take photos of the buildings and other sites.
High Street |
The High street was full of street performers - human statues painted gold, big, topless black men playing saxophone, musicians, a guy on a tight rope playing the violin and - best of all - a group of African dancers and their drum band. All this, along with the odd SA rugby shirt and Seffrican accent made it feel like we were back home.
Along our walk we found a cool book store where all the books are 2 pounds, and I couldn't resist the urge to go back and buy a few books! Bought "A very British Coop" - about pigeon racing, "The Way Home" - a thriller about someone who finds a bag of money under his floor boards (I wish!) and "Quirkology" - about how subtle influences effect everyday life.
While walking around, I was standing in the road taking photos when Adam and Mick had just kept on walking. I then took a right turn when they continued straight, so I ended up by some library buildings. This area was honestly the most interesting and beautiful part of Oxford I have yet seen.
We then spent a good night at home playing cards, and this morning took a walk through Goring to the Craft and Produce Market in the town hall. We just looked around at what they had to offer and then had some Hog Roast sandwiches for lunch. Let's see what the rest of the day has in store for us!
